Broadway Performers Sing the Music of Stephen Sondheim
The Jamesport Meeting House is thrilled to present An Evening with Sondheim on Monday, July 21st at 7:30PM, featuring the music and lyrics of Broadway’s greatest modern composer, Stephen Sondheim. A cast that includes Broadway’s brightest rising stars will perform beloved songs from Into the Woods, A Little Night Music, Sunday In the Park With George, Merrily We Roll Along, Sweeney Todd, Company and more. General Admission tickets are $15 ($10 for students) and will be available in advance at jamesportmeetinghouse.org with remaining tickets at the door.
The stellar cast features Joe Cassidy (If/Then; Catch Me If You Can; Next To Normal; Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Tari Kelly (Anything Goes–Roundabout Revival; How the Grinch Stole Christmas; The Boy From Oz), Beth Kirkpatrick (Les Misérables: The 25th Anniversary Tour), Marissa McGowan (A Little Night Music; Les Misérables; Bonnie and Clyde) and Jonathan Rayson (Little Shop of Horrors; A Year With Frog and Toad; Legally Blonde–1st National Tour), with piano accompaniment by Andrew Byrne (Les Misérables; A Class Act; The Bridge Project; Triumph of Love).
Described by Frank Rich of The New York Times as "now the greatest and perhaps best-known artist in the American musical theater," Stephen Sondheim is an American composer and lyricist known for his immense contributions to musical theatre for over 50 years. He is the winner of an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards (more than any other composer) including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and the Laurence Olivier Award.
The Jamesport Meeting House, built by Riverhead’s pioneers in 1731, is the oldest standing public building on the East End of Long Island. Purchased for the community by the Jamesport Meeting House Preservation Trust in 2008, this beautiful building boasts excellent acoustics and a wonderful performance space. The Meeting House is located at 1590 Main Road, on the corner of Manor Lane in Jamesport.
