60th Annual Mattituck Lions Strawberry Festival

By late June on the North Fork the strawberry crop is reaching its peak and bursting with flavor. On Father's Day weekend, at the peak of the strawberry harvest, the Mattituck Lions Club brings the community together for a special weekend of fun and purpose. Whether you're here year-round, are a seasonal resident or are drawn here by the Festival, you're in for a wonderful time – all while raising money for local non-profits!

Dig into the strawberry shortcake, sample the strawberries dipped in chocolate, try the strawberries any way you like them. Head over to the rest tent to enjoy live music.  Then find out what over 100 arts and craft vendors have available for sale.

Cheer as the new Strawberry Queen is crowned.  Experience the midway rides. Taste foods from around the world. The fun keeps going after the sun sets, so bring lawn chairs and enjoy the fireworks on Thursday and Friday.

Much of the Festival fun is free, thanks to the efforts of our many volunteers. When you do spend, you help the Matitituck Lions advance their year-round community service efforts. Learn more about our projects to help the community.

Community Service Forum

COMMUNITY SERVICE FORUM

April is Community Service Month and the Town of Southold benefits greatly from the generous community spirit that many volunteers provide to different organizations, including Town government.  While there are many opportunities for residents to participate in community service activities, there is no central organizing entity.

The Town of Southold Youth Bureau will build upon last year’s successful  Community Service Forum” to engage the public to learn about  what volunteer opportunities exist within the Town as well as foster additional ways to help those in need. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Peconic Lane Community Center (formerly the Peconic School next to the Recreation Center.)

This Community Service Forum is targeted towards helping residents to learn about volunteer opportunities and for organizations seeking volunteers to meet with potential applicants. If your organization needs volunteers and would like to participate in this forum kindly contact Youth Bureau volunteer Bob Duffin (bobduff@optonline.net) or Youth Bureau director Phillip Beltz (phillip.beltz@town.southold.ny.us).

I hope you will be able to participate.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Scott A. Russell
