Fall Birding with Mary Laura Lamont, local naturalist and birding expert. Mary Laura Lamont will lead the search for Fall birds through the preserved fields and woods in and around Hallockville. Along the way, you will learn about the successful and cooperative effort that led to the conservation of this 525 acre landscape. The walks are sponsored by NationalGrid, formerly KeySpan Energy.
Registration is encouraged. $5 for Hallockville members, $6 for non-members. Bring binoculars, appropriate apparel, and sturdy footwear. Heavy rain only cancels the program. All fees support Hallockville’s educational programs.

Carefully placed candles and lanterns light the grounds and tour guides in period costumes lead the way. Children can visit with Santa, who rests in a sleigh at the Pine Neck Barn. Children can also create custom ornaments to decorate the tree at the Old Schoolhouse. Musicians will stroll the grounds in period costume. The Southold High School Chorus will sing holiday music. Refreshments will be available in the Pine Neck Barn Annex. The lighting of the Hamlet Christmas Tree will take place in front of the Ann Currie-Bell House at 5:00 pm. The 2009 Long Island Winterfest will once again feature free jazz performances at East End wineries on weekend afternoons.
The calendar for “JAZZ ON THE VINE - 2009” has been extended to six weekends, Saturday, February 14 through Sunday, March 22.
The 2009 program is being organized by the Long Island Wine Council, the East End Arts Council, Suffolk County Department of Economic Development and Workforce Housing, the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, American Express and WLIU Radio.
The organizers already have jazz musicians and groups participating again after last year, but any local jazz musicians interested in joining the program should go to the Festival website (liwnterfest.com) to register.

The goal of VineTime is to provide Tri-state area and Massachusetts travelers with a value added vacation for those who prefer to keep their travel closer to home.
A three-night/four-day package includes accommodations at the finest B&Bs on the North Fork of Long Island, a fun-filled day touring Wine Country with guided transportation, Four educational meetings with winery owners via vineyard walks, tours and of course tastings, a wine and cheese pairing at Greenport’s hottest new wine bar, full gourmet breakfasts each morning, and two dinners for two at a choice of several of the region’s finest dining establishments.

Vine Time takes place once a month and is reasonably priced at $599-$659 per person (with single and corporate rates available, as well as optional add-ons).
